This page explains how to install, configure, and use the DeepL Localization Provider for Unreal Engine’s Localization Dashboard. It also covers best practices, troubleshooting, and privacy.

What this plugin does
- Adds a “DeepL” provider to the Localization Dashboard (Editor-only).
- Translates missing strings and (optionally) stale strings (where source changed) via DeepL /v2/translate.
- Supports DeepL context, formality, and glossary.
- Shows a progress notification during long imports.
- Provides a local translation cache to reduce API calls.
- One-click API usage & quota test.
This plugin is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by DeepL. It simply calls the DeepL API you configure.
Requirements
- Unreal Engine (Localization Dashboard enabled).
- A DeepL API key (Free or Pro).
- Internet access from the machine running the Editor.
The plugin is Editor-only. It does not add runtime dependencies to your packaged builds.
Installation
- Install the plugin into your project (Plugins folder) or engine (Engine/Plugins).
- Restart the Editor and enable DeepL Localization if prompted.
- Go to Editor Preferences → DeepL Localization to configure it
